Section 1. Important Notice
The quoted rates are believed to be in accordance with the rates prescribed by the Bureau of Household Goods and Services (BHGS) under the California Department of Consumer Affairs, as published in Maximum Rate Tariff 4 and are to be applied to the number of hours involved in providing service, subject to the designated minimum provisions, unless in conflict with the rates and regulations of that tariff.
Unless it is specifically and clearly indicated in the Agreement for Service, the NOT TO EXCEED PRICE does not include charges for any accessorial services which may be requested and provided. That means that unless specifically stated, the NOT TO EXCEED PRICE does not include charges for: appliance servicing, disassembly or reassembly of articles, flight or long carry charges, rigging,hoisting, lowering or elevator charges, shuttle charges, split pick-up and/or delivery charges, storage-in-transit charges, or charges resulting from a failure of shipper to accept delivery as arranged.

Section 2. Company information
Make It Easy Moving Company ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") is a licensed and fully insured household goods moving company operating in the State of California under license MTRO 192662 (CAL-T), regulated by the Bureau of Household Goods and Services (BHGS) and in compliance with the Bureau of Household Goods and Services (BHGS) under the California Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA).
The Company reserves the right to transfer work to an insured and licensed independent contractor when necessary to fulfill service obligations.

Section 3. Service Area
We primarily serve Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Los Altos, Palo Alto, and the greater Santa Clara County. We also handle moves throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and long-distance relocations within California and beyond.

Section 5. Pricing and Billing
5.1 Hourly Billing
All moves are billed on an hourly basis. Rates vary by team size. Current rates are provided in the Company's Moving Services & Rates sheet, available upon request.
- Minimum charge: 3 hours per move
- Cash and Zelle payments qualify for a discounted rate
- Billing begins when the crew arrives at the pickup location and ends when the truck is fully unloaded at the destination

5.2 Truck Fee
A one-time truck dispatch fee applies based on the distance from the Company's base of operations. The truck fee includes the use ofa moving truck, moving blankets, dollies, lifts, and all standard moving equipment. Current truck fee rates are listed in the Moving Services & Rates sheet.

5.4 Packing Materials
Option A - By Price List:
You pay only for the materials used during your move. All materials are professional-grade, specifically designed for safe moving. Adetailed packing materials price list is available upon request.
Option B - Full Packing Kit:
All-inclusive packing kits are available based on the size of your home. Kit pricing is determined by bedroom count and may beadjusted after an estimate. Details are provided in the Packing Materials price sheet.
5.5 Special Service Fees
Additional fees may apply for specialty services including but not limited to: piano moving, grand piano moving, hoisting (items moved via balcony or exterior of building), heavy item handling (items over 300 lbs, with verification), and overnight storage in the truck dueto client circumstances. Current special service fees are listed in the Moving Services & Rates sheet.
Section 6. Estimates
6.1 Estimate Methods
- In-person estimate: A member of our team visits your location to assess the scope of the move.
- Video estimate: Visual assessment via video call (FaceTime, Zoom, Google Meet).
- Offline estimate: Based on detailed information, photos, and/or inventory lists.
All estimate methods are valid for issuing a Not-to-Exceed price.

6.2 Not-to-Exceed Price
For moves where an estimate is provided (via in-person visit, video call, or offline assessment), we offer a Not-to-Exceed price. This is the maximum amount you will be charged for the agreed scope of work. If the actual cost is lower, you pay the lower amount. If you request additional services beyond the original scope, a written Change Order will be provided for your approval.
6.3 Free Estimates
We offer free, no-obligation estimates for all residential and commercial moves. For commercial moves and large buildings, we provide free in-person estimates.
Section 7. Booking and Payment
7.1 Deposit
A deposit is required to secure your moving date. The deposit is applied toward the total cost of your move. The deposit amount is specified at the time of booking.
7.2 Last-Minute Bookings
For moves booked same-day or with less than 24 hours notice, an increased deposit may be required to confirm the reservation. Last-minute deposits are applied toward the total cost of the move. If the move is canceled after confirmation, the deposit is non-refundable as it covers the minimum crew commitment.
7.3 Payment Methods
We accept: Cash, Zelle, Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), and Debit cards. Cash and Zelle payments qualify for a discounted rate as reflected in the Company's rate sheet.
7.4 Payment Timing
Invoices and charges for transportation and other services are due and payable upon completion of the move unless otherwise agreed in writing. For moves with a Not-to-Exceed estimate, the final charge will not exceed the quoted amount for the agreed scope of work.
Section 8. Cancellation Policy
8.1 Standard Cancellations
- 48+ hours before scheduled move: Full refund of deposit
- 24-48 hours before scheduled move: Deposit is non-refundable
- Less than 24 hours before move or no-show: Customer may be charged for the minimum service hours at the applicable rate

8.2 Cancellation Timing
Cancellation time is determined by when the cancellation notice is sent by the Customer (message timestamp, email timestamp), not when it is received or read by the Company.
8.3 Last-Minute Booking Cancellations
For moves booked with less than 24 hours notice, the last-minute booking deposit is non-refundable if the move is canceled after confirmation.
Section 9. Liability of the Company
9.1 Perils Assumed
The Company assumes obligation against direct physical damage or loss to the property to be moved from any external cause except as excluded herein. The Company shall be liable only for its failure to use ordinary care and then only in the amount of the Customer's declared valuation of the goods.
9.2 Basic Valuation Coverage (Included)
In accordance with California regulations (BHGS General Order No. 136 Series), all moves include basic valuation coverage at $0.60 per pound per article at no additional charge. This is the minimum level of protection required by California law.
9.3 Valuation Limits
The Company shall not be liable for more than the lesser of: (a) the actual cash value of the goods at the time of loss, allowing for depreciation; (b) the maximum limit stated on the bill of lading; or (c) the actual costs to repair the damaged goods.
9.4 Declared Value Protection (Optional)
You may declare a higher value for your shipment. An additional valuation charge applies per $100 of declared value. Please ask for details.
9.5 Full Replacement Value Protection (Optional)
If an item is lost, destroyed, or damaged, the Company will repair, replace, or provide a cash settlement based on current replacement value. Additional charges apply.
Section 10. Carrier Liability Exclusions
LIABILITY FOR LOSS OR DAMAGE TO HOUSEHOLD GOODS IS LIMITED AS REQUIRED BY THE BUREAU OF HOUSEHOLD GOODS AND SERVICES UNDER GENERAL ORDER NO. 136 SERIES:
A. Perishable Articles.
No liability for the condition or flavor of perishable articles.
B. High-Value Items.
No liability on items such as bonds, currency, gems, jewelry, watches, precious stones, gold, silver, platinum articles, stock certificates, or securities unless specifically listed on the shipping document by description and value.
C. Articles of Extraordinary Value.
No liability for articles of extraordinary value unless specifically listed on the inventory with declared value and carrier is given opportunity to pack them. Includes: rare musical instruments, original manuscripts, antique furniture, heirlooms, paintings, sculptures,works of art, and hobby collections.
D. Excluded Causes.
No liability for: (1) acts or omissions of the shipper, including improper packing; (2) insects, vermin, ordinary wear and tear; (3) inherent defects or atmospheric conditions; (4) hostile or war-like action, insurrection, seizure by government.
E. Mechanical/Electrical Items.
No liability for mechanical or electrical derangement of appliances unless evidenced by external damage. The carrier reserves the right to inspect articles before accepting them.
F. Labor Disturbances.
No liability for loss or damage from strikes, lockouts, riots, or civil commotion.
G. Fragile Items.
No liability for breakage of china, glassware, or similar fragile articles unless packed by carrier employees or resulting from carrier negligence, fire, theft, or collision.
H. Claims Compliance.
Liability subject to compliance with Item 92 of Maximum Rate Tariff 4.
Section 11. Ownership of Goods
The Customer represents and warrants lawful possession of the property and authority to authorize its transportation. The Customer agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Company in any litigation arising from the transported property and to pay costs of courtand attorney's fees.

- Provide accurate information about the volume and nature of items
- Disclose conditions affecting the move (stairs, narrow access, elevator, parking)
- Ensure clear paths for movers at pickup and delivery locations
- Be present or have an authorized representative at pickup and delivery
- Not include hazardous, combustible, or inflammable materials
- Disconnect and prepare appliances (unless packing services purchased)
- Inspect goods promptly upon delivery and report any loss or damage
- Select valuation protection level before the move begins
- Declare items of extraordinary value (>$100/lb) in writing
- Separately secure jewelry, cash, documents, medications, and irreplaceable items
- Disclose conditions affecting the move (stairs, narrow access, elevator, parking)
- Ensure clear paths for movers at pickup and delivery locations
- Be present or have an authorized representative at pickup and delivery
- Not include hazardous, combustible, or inflammable materials

Section 13. Change Orders
If the Customer requests additional services beyond the original scope on moving day, a written Change Order will be prepared. Work will not proceed until the Customer signs. A Change Order cannot be used to increase charges simply because the Company underestimated costs.
Section 14. General Lien for Charges
The Company shall have a general lien upon all property delivered to or deposited with the Company for all charges for transportation, storage, and other services, including money advanced, interest, insurance, labor, and all costs of enforcing such lien,including attorney's fees.

15.2 Certificate of Insurance (COI)
We provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) to any building management company, property manager, or HOA. COI requests should be made at least 48 hours before the scheduled move.
Section 16. Overnight Storage
If items cannot be delivered on the same day due to Customer circumstances, an overnight storage fee applies per the Company'srate sheet. The Company does not warrant that its vehicles or storage facilities are fireproof.
Section 17. Claims for Loss or Damage
Claims must be filed in writing within nine (9) months of the delivery date, per Item 92 of Maximum Rate Tariff 4. Upon receipt, the Company will acknowledge within 30 days and offer a settlement or denial within 60 days.
NOTICE: PLEASE INSPECT YOUR GOODS PROMPTLY. CLAIMS FOR LOST OR DAMAGED GOODS MUST BE FILED IN WRITING.
Section 18. Scheduling and Arrival
We make every effort to arrive within the scheduled time window. Actual duration depends on volume, distance, and conditions. We will notify you of any delays as soon as possible.

If credit is extended to bill an employer or other party, the owner of the goods remains primarily liable for payment in the event charges are not paid.

As a California consumer, you have the right to:

Section 21. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of California, including regulations of the BHGS under the California Department of Consumer Affairs, including Maximum Rate Tariff 4. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Santa Clara County, California.
Section 22. Amendments
The Company may update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes apply to moves scheduled after the update. For already-booked moves, terms at the time of booking apply.

By booking a move with Make It Easy Moving Company, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
